The runway illustration

The collection describes a potential backer paying £5k monthly while a sponsor searches for an acquisition, with an illustrative 20% holding-company interest. This is hypothetical search funding, not an acquisition-equity cheque or a standard ownership arrangement. It pays for the time and costs needed to find and advance a transaction before an acquired business can support the sponsor. Watch source

Match budget and duration

Search duration Monthly funding Total
12 months £5,000 £60,000
18 months £5,000 £90,000

The arithmetic is £5,000 × 12 or £5,000 × 18. Extending the search by six months therefore adds £30,000 at the same spending rate. That extension is an editorial comparison, not a promise of further funding. The 20% share is a proposed negotiation input, not a number derived from the budget multiplication.

Understand what has been financed

The buyer still needs separate capital for the purchase, fees and any operating funding at completion. A search backer may also invest in the acquisition, but neither role implies the other. A runway budget should reflect actual planned spending and duration, and distinguish monthly installments from a full upfront contribution.

The economic exchange can outlast the search if the backer owns a permanent holding-company stake. A sponsor therefore trades some future participation and autonomy for time to execute now. The source explicitly associates outside backing with accountability, while recognizing that a funded search can still fail.

Do not use the £90k illustration as an implied target-business valuation, or mix it with the separate reported DKK600k historical capitalization. They are different examples with different status and currencies. Set out the search budget and the ownership the backer receives. Continue with buyer equity and sourcing.
